Monte Monte

I take great care in the restoration and refinishing of each component while attempting to create a vintage quality within the work. I enjoy sharing stories about each new piece I create and often include an itemized list of components with information or story that accompanies the work.

When I was fourteen I received my first basic art certificate from the Art Instruction Schools of Minneapolis Minnesota and received the Certificate of Achievement in Graphic Arts Technology from the Sonoma County California Board of Education. An Associate degree followed with emphasis in the arts, commercial advertising and merchandise display.

I worked my way through school doing a wide range of artfully odd jobs, painting signage high on the sides of buildings using a rickety ladder and old mattress to break my fall. Steady employment began in the commercial art industry as a screen printer and dark room technician. I later became a product designer, production manager, assistant art director and then art director for several commercial printing companies.

I retired from the graphics art world in 1998 to pursue my true new found passion as a full time assemblage sculptor. I currently live and maintain my studio in Northern California where I continue to explore my creativity on a daily basis. My creations are held in numerous public collections and can be found in museums, libraries, wineries, public parks, community centers and private collections around the world.
